Additives
Enabling Solutions Together
As the demands on polymers & elastomers become increasingly tough, EMP additives solve the problems caused by processing at high speeds or exposure to the natural elements & improve polymer performance.
Our broad range of antioxidants, light stabilizers, polymer modifiers, Nucleating agents are employed to either aid processing, to chemically modify the polymer or to combat degradation, thereby extending a product’s life, appearance & performance by maintaining its strength, stiffness or flexibility.

Processing
The following methods can be used for the processing of plastic additives and colorants
Blow Molding
For manufacturing hollow parts from thermoplastic plastics, blow molding is widely used. In this process a so-called preform is produced which is then blown into a hollow part. Blow-moldable thermoplastics include e.g. polyolefins, polyamides, polyester and POM.
Extrusion
Extrusion is a process where monofilaments, foils or profiles are created by squeezing thermoplastic plastics through a nozzle applying high pressure. Frequently used plastics include PE, PP, PVC, Polyamide, and TPU.
Fiber Spinning
During the fiber spinning process, individual filaments are created, which are joined and stretched into yarns. EMP’s Additives help to ensure a smooth process.
Injection Molding
One of the most widely used processing methods for plastics is injection molding. Our Additives and Colorants facilitate the production.
Resin Production
Stabilizers are used at various stages of a polymer life-cycle and play an important role in the resin production.
Rotational Molding
Rotational molding is a process used for producing hollow plastic products. It allows production of complex parts in size and shape.
Recycling
To deliver what the customer is asking for, recyclers can use additives and colorants to restore diminished properties or to compensate for undesirable attributes.
Versatile Application Range
The applications are as manifold as the properties of our products: Explore the various application possibilities.
Additives for Styrenics
Polystyrene is standard thermoplastic. EMP has a variety of additives and colorants for the stabilization and process of Styrenics.

Additives for Polyamide
Various structures are commercially produced; PA 6, PA 6,6, PA 4,6, PA 11 and PA 12 are the most important. Traditionally, aliphatic polyamides are stabilized with small amounts of copper salts.
Additives for Polycarbonate
Major concern of Polycarbonate is that it discolors as a manifestation of autoxidation. EMP offers a range of products to stabilize polycarbonate for different applications.
Additives for Polyesters
PET is usually processed and used without the addition of antioxidants. However EMP offers products to improve properties of PET against aging in specific conditions.
Additives for Polyethylene
PE can undergo crosslinking as well as chain scission during processing and significant changes in molecular weight distribution can result. Thus, the materials’ mechanical properties may be reduced severely. EMP offers a very large range of products to efficiently stabilize polyethylene.
Additives for Polypropylene
PP mostly undergoes chain scission during processing and significant changes in molecular weight distribution can result. Thus, the materials’ mechanical and optical properties may be reduced severely. EMP offers a very large range of products to efficiently stabilize polypropylene.
Additives for Polyurethanes
We offer a wide range of products to prevent discoloration and scorching and help the processing of Polyurethanes.
Additives for Polyvinyl Chloride
EMP offers specific additives particularly suitable to control polyvinyl chloride (PVC) polymerization. They protect the substrates against thermal degradation of PVC during manufacturing, processing and end-use.
FILLERS
Fillers are used in pipe, film, and other polymer recycling processes. These are calcium carbonate or talc masterbatches, which can be a great solution to improve the mechanical properties of the product, reduce deformation and cut production costs, while maintaining high quality.
The distinctiveness of EMP is the choice of a filler that best suits the production process and the product, according to the customer’s assignment or product requirements. If necessary, a new, unique formulation is designed, some amount of test product is made, testing is conducted in the in-house laboratory and the customer is given recommendations. Fillers can also be used in products that come into direct contact with food.
DESICCANT
Desiccants are materials that will attract and chemically bind moisture. Desiccants can offer a simple and economical way to eliminate moisture problems in plastics processing that can otherwise cause unattractive surface defects such as lensing, voiding, and splash marks in the finished product.
Desiccant masterbatches can reduce the need for pre-drying of materials, allow processors to use recyclates with high moisture content and extend the control of processing moisture sensitive polymers.
